Corporate Entity (Short Film)

I worked with actor/director Jon Holmes on this hybrid live action short comedy, where a team decide to scrap their company mascot but the mascot herself has something to say about it...

I created the mascot Susie, a large, over the top sarcastic presence amongst the otherwise very friendly workspace. The prompt was to create a character that looks similar to explainer videos, but more expressive.

I used Toon Boom Harmony to design, rig and animate the character. I then used Adobe After Effects to composite each shot, blending her into the scene for when she interacts with the door frame or other characters.

For any shots where Susie is interacting or behind an object, I used After Effects to mask the live action footage in front of her. Although her design is very cartoony and 2D, we wanted her to look real within the world, like a giant mascot is really standing there.
